Alice’s Story
A Web Resource and Blog For Parents of Children With Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder (ANSD)
Three years ago now we started a blog to record our beautiful daughter Alice’s journey from the silent to the hearing world.
Alice was diagnosed with Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder (ANSD) at around 18 months and now has two cochlear implants to help her to hear. She attends mainstream School and Auditory Verbal UK in Oxford and still stuns us every day.
Along the way we have met many people, made many new friends and discovered how poor the accessibility of information is for Parents of children with ANSD. Understanding of the causes of the condition divides opinion and Parents are left wondering who to turn to map their way through this ever-changing land.
Alice’s Ears is now not only a diary of our experiences with Alice – the highs (of which there have been many) and lows (of which there have been, thankfully, few) but also it hopefully serves as a resource for Parents and families on our journey.
Do please feel free to contact us with any suggestions you might have for how we can improve the site.
